So many mistakes can be made when you first get a puppy or dog so I want make sure you are off to a good start. If you are in the market for a new dog or puppy, this is your opportunity to ask a professional how to get started or get validation that what you are doing is the right thing. For example: “Am I getting my puppy from a reputable breeder?” “Is this dog or breed right for my family?” “I know nothing about getting a dog, where do I start?”
Doggie Home School:
This is where Todd comes to your home and trains your dog and does all the work for you. This option is available for dogs 6 months or older. He will usually work your dog for 3 days each week and then on the 4th day, pass off the cues the dog learned that week to you, the owner. The Doggie Home School program usually takes 2 to 4 weeks depending on your dog’s needs and your goals.
Doggie home school is like a Boot Camp at a Board & Train Facility but without all the harsh punishment. You can either choose to be in your home and watch what I am doing with your dog, go about your day in your home, or I can train your dog when you are out and about. The problem with Boot Camps and a Board and Train Facilities is you never know what they are doing with your dog. They like it that way because they typically use shock collars(E-collars) to train dogs which have a whole host of negative side effects. See my dog training tips page regarding E-collars.
Rate: $342 per week per dog including the pass off day. This is based on 4 sessions per week and usually this option takes at least 2 weeks.
zero interest payment plans are available to make paying for this service easier on the wallet.
Todd comes to your home and teaches you to train your dog. This training is done every 5 to 7 days optimally and we work on basic good manners or help you problem solve your issues in a slow methodical way so that you develop a good training relationship with your dog.
Rates: $95 for the first session unless you choose a package below. This first session involves listening to you and finding out about your dog's issues. It also involves lots of training and a good chunk of information. Each followup session if they are needed is approximately 45-60 minutes. Payment of 3 or more sessions gets a 10% discount as shown below:
A 3 lesson package is $256 (regularly $285)
A 4 lesson package is $342 (regularly $380)
A 6 lesson package is $513 (regularly $570)
Usually, you don't pay until the end of the first session because the first session involves not only training but evaluating your dog. Once I have evaluated your dog's personality and figured out how your dog learns, I make recommendations as to how many sessions your dog might need. I do not use high pressure sales techniques. The final decision comes down to you.
With all packages, I offer free “tech support” between lessons when you get stuck or are having issues. You can text, call or email me at any time in between lessons and get advice when things aren’t going as planned. This service is included in your package price. It is like having a professional at your finger tips ready to “talk you off the ledge” if need be.
For puppies I recommend a 6-lesson package which has been designed exclusively for puppy owners that have just brought a puppy into their home between the ages of 8 weeks to 5 months and want to get their puppy off to a great start. So many mistakes can be made in puppyhood by their owners that could set the puppy up for failure in adolescence and adulthood. The package starts with a 60-minute lesson where we address potty training, puppy nipping, crate or confinement training, scheduled feeding and socialization advice and then in consecutive weeks, we work on Canine Good Manners. The 6-lesson 6-week puppy package is $513 and as usual, includes free “tech support” between lessons when you get stuck or are having issues. You can text, call or email me at any time in between lessons. This service is included in your package price. The package can be split up into two payments if you are on a budget.
Combined Private Coaching and Doggie Home School:
Some people what to get kick started with training so now there is an option where the first week is the Doggie Home School and consequential weeks are Private Coaching. This Hybrid plan gets you off at a running start letting me handle the basic training and then leaves some of the training in your hands. This option is open to both puppy owner and dogs of all ages.
You’ll see that I have no option for group classes and there is a reason for that. They simply aren’t affective. In group classes you are throwing a dog or puppy into a distracting environment which is a horrible environment to learn. It is sort of like trying to learn calculus on a busy city street. The best environment for a dog or puppy to learn is in his own environment, her home. In fact, most basic good manners cues we first learn inside your house and then when they are mastered, we take them outside.
